This went live on Buffer's IG and TikTok this week! 🥳 I adapted it from an article about how to create a media kit as an influencer on the Buffer blog, linked below for interest. The clip was really fun (and time-consuming 😅) to put together. I definitely feel like I'm getting better at video — I took in as many of the brilliant suggestions folks shared on my last post as I could — and I'm much happier with this one. It also feels a lot more authentic to me to have kept the minor bloopers in... curious to hear folks' thoughts on this. Is it distracting? Though, watching it back now, I realize it's still way too long. This could even have become two videos — one on the 'how to' and one on the influencer media kit examples. 🤔 If anyone has any other feedback on what I could do to improve, I'd love to hear it! I'm filming some clips this weekend. 🤓 Also, a huge thank you to: - Ayomi Samaraweera of Canopy - Ryan Prior of Modash - Amanjit Heer of We Heer You. - Andreea Moise of Hype Maven - Gigi Robinson, M.S., BFA - Aysia B Ross - Brenden Guy - Valerie Moore - Kambria Hall for sharing their expertise and media kits for this meaty article! ✨

Here are some design sneak peeks that we are currently exploring and testing 👀 🌎 Global ‘+New’ button We’re exploring placing a new button in our top navigation which is always accessible and would allow you to create a new idea or new post. We want to make these actions available no matter where you are in the product. ➕ ‘New Post’ hover shortcut We want to make the process of creating a new post a little faster. As soon as you hover over any of your channels, a + button would appear, and once you click it, the composer opens for you to draft your post. 🗒️ Snippet Manager Our Hashtag Manager is getting a rebrand. 💅 You could use this tool to include any kind of text content to quickly insert into your posts. What do you think of these design updates? Is there anything else you’d like to see us update in Buffer? #productdesign #buildinpublic

Continuing the theme of retreat posts! After we got back from Mexico last month, we did a team survey to document everything that went well, and things that didn’t go so well, to learn for next time. 🙂 Besides the obvious joy that our remote team gets from being together in person (and in Cancún, no less!), here are some of the notable takeaways from that survey: 1) 🍝 This was our first time at an All-Inclusive resort. The team LOVED having all food and drinks included without having to worry about per-diems and collecting receipts. 2) 🛂 Our biggest sadness was that some teammates had trouble with immigration. Some weren’t able to come at all, and a few endured quite harrowing experiences at the border in Mexico, and on layovers. Other teammates had success using a visa consultant, so we’ll budget for that in the future for teammates from some countries. 3) 😷 Our COVID precautions were appreciated, but weren’t foolproof; a few teammates tested positive in the second half of the week. Being in a tropical place helped with this; we were able to have meetings and meals outside. In the future, we’ll probably ask teammates to wear a mask if they’re having any symptoms, even if they’ve tested negative that day. 4) 🇲🇽 One Buffer teammate is from Mexico originally, and he gave us a brief lesson on language and customs to kick off the week. Many teammates mentioned how much they appreciated connecting with the local culture in this way, especially since we mostly stay on the resort during the week. 5) 🍬 We invite all teammates to bring a “treat” from their home country to share, and the team really delivered. We ended up with 4 long tables covered in sweets and local delicacies from around the world. This was a highlight. It’s a joy to taste delicious dishes from countries near and far (and occasionally controversial ones - Candy Corn and Vegemite made quite a splash), and it’s also a natural conversation starter, which is appreciated by some of our more shy teammates. 🙂 I’m still coming down from the high of this event, so you’re getting the updates as I process the conclusion of that project and begin to wrap my head around starting to plan for the next one. 😁 👀 If you're interested in seeing the actual retreat survey summary that I shared with the Buffer team in exact detail, I'm attaching that to this post!

At Buffer, we truly value our flexible remote work environment. While we typically work from our home offices or co-working spaces, every once in a while, our work finds us in some truly unique spots! Swipe through to see some places Buffer teammates have been logging in from recently — including a track & field event, a beautiful Airbnb in Mexico, and an airport. 😄 We’d love to see where you're working from — comment with a photo of your office/desk setup or any interesting place you’ve been working from lately! #remotework

There are hundreds of thousands of affiliate programs out there — here are a few we recommend joining if you’re an affiliate marketing beginner: 1️⃣ Amazon Associates and Influencer Program 2️⃣ eBay Partner Network 3️⃣ ShareASale 4️⃣ CJ Affiliate Affiliate programs offer a low-lift way for creators to earn commission from recommending products they love. In many cases, creators can do this without ever negotiating with the brand in question. What does your team's marketing tech stack look like? Vendor selection can be a critical decision for small-to-medium-sized teams. You need the right tools that matches your budget and supports the current, and future, scale of your growth motions. I often find the best recommendations come from others, so I wanted to share a look under the hood at the tech stack used to run the marketing efforts at Buffer in case it's helpful for anyone. 📒 Project Management Tools 📒 • Project management, road mapping, and documentation: Notion • Task management: Atlassian Jira ✍ Content and Community Tools ✍ • Social media management: Buffer • CMS for our blogs: Ghost • SEO Tooling: A mix of Ahrefs, Clearscope and Google Search Console • Community platform: Discord • Media Monitoring: Meltwater ✉ Marketing Automation and Product Marketing Tools✉ • In-app messaging: Pendo.io • Marketing automation (email and push): Customer.io • Public roadmap and suggestions board: featureOS • Surveys: Typeform • Video creation: Screenflow by Telestream • Design: Figma and Canva 📊 Data Tools 📊 • CDP: Segment • Product & Marketing Analytics: Mixpanel & Redash • Experimentation: In-house platform • App Store Optimization: Appfigures I'd be keen to hear what tools other teams have found valuable that we could consider. Just remember that tools don't make or break the team, they are only an additive to already performant and high-trust teams. #marketing #martech #marketingtools

At Buffer, we have a monthly company-wide all-hands meeting. Every month, a different teammate 'hosts' the 90-minute call. From the very first one I attended in September last year, I've wanted to host. The prospect of speaking live in front of 70+ people from all over the world is scary, sure, but to me, it felt like a rite of passage. Yesterday, I got my chance. 😆 I'm very happy to report that I did not put my foot in my mouth (much?). It's really scary stepping up for things like this, but I've done it from day one of my career. (You know that GIF of Hermione raising her hand so high she's lifting out of her seat? It me. 😶) While I'm not shy, I'm definitely an introvert, so this is something I'm really proud of. It means stepping out of my comfort zone every time. But I'm absolutely certain all the moments like this have been a rung on the ladder I've climbed to get me to where I am now. If you're just starting out (in your career or a new role) and an opportunity to be visible and enthusiastic comes up, take it! It's such a great way to show that you're invested in the company, that you want to be a big part of it. That you care enough to go the extra mile. Thankfully, this particular moment didn't even require any extra work on my part. Jenna Meindertsma runs the show at Buffer, and she absolutely knocks it out of the park every time — from big-picture planning right down to the perfect GIF for each slide. (See Ted Lasso example.) 👀 I was super anxious the entire day yesterday, but I ended the meeting on such a high note — due in no small part to my teammates cheering me on in the chat. Thanks, Bufferoos. ❤️
