Summer is traditionally a slowdown when everyone, particularly investors, peace out and nothing much gets done. I don't know about you, but my summer has been bonkerballs nonstop craziness.
Among all of the events, keeping up with the pace of new members and customers, product development, advocacy work, and travel, a new report published by the Center for Venture Research at the University of New Hampshire caught my attention: πββοΈ 47% of angel investors are women, a 39% increase since 2021.
πββοΈ 46% of entrepreneurs seeking angel capital are women-owned, a 62% increase since 2021. |
Angel investing is not venture investing and women are putting our money to work funding the innovations we want to see in the world and making a profit while we're at it. Women angels and founders are the future limited partners.
βΊ Entrepreneurs seeking angel capital have a 24% (nearly 1 in 4) chance of securing an angel investment.
βΊ Women founders have an even HIGHER chance at 29%.
"This high percentage of women presenting, and the higher women yield rate (above the overall market yield rate), indicates that these women-led deals are of high quality."
These numbers reflect a positive shift in the investment landscape, showcasing the impact of increasing female representation among angel investors. More women investors mean more opportunities for diverse founders, leading to a richer, more innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem.
This is even more inspiring when you consider that angel investors are a hugely under-allocated capital class. When investors evaluate new opportunities, we inherently view people we identify with as less risky. Watch the 2 minute video clip below for more on that topic.
My foundational research 5 years ago gave me conviction that we would see an increase in angel diversity and investing activity. We are building the infrastructure at Scroobious to efficiently connect aligned angels and founders to quickly drive innovation. |

"After seeing the suffering of my college friends and peers who were sexually assaulted with no way to get help when they needed it the most, I knew I needed to find a way to equip young women with a discrete way to get help in moments of crisis. I left behind my career as a third-grade foreign language teacher and dove headfirst into calculus and physics to equip me with the skills to bring the Together Bands to life. Now, with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, I am continuing with my passion of giving women a phone-free, discrete way to get help from emergency services in dangerous moments."
