It's that time again in New York City. No, I'm not referring to the time when the temperature is in the single digits (although it is that time). Or the time when everyone pulls out their sunlight-mimicking lamps from the drawer as a last ditch effort to get that one molecule of serotonin to keep them going through the day (although it is that time, too). I'm talking about New York Fashion Week. Which, over the years, has become an increasingly relevant event for content creators in the fashion space and beyond as creative industries overlap more and more. I'm excited that Beacons will be co-hosting some events for creators around the Fall/Winter NYFW activities next month. But if I've learned anything from watching my favorite creators attend NYFW over the years, it's that the week is crazy busy.
Beyond the shows, there are events, parties, meetups, and networking events that all happen around the infrastructure of Fashion Week.
That's why we're creating a calendar of events around New York Fashion Week for creators that we'll share in the coming weeks to keep you in the know about what's happening when.
If you want to sign up to get the calendar when we release it before NYFW, sign up at our Link in Bio below 👇 Know a creator who could use this, too? Forward them this email so they can add their name to the list! |
And on that note... to anyone else who is experiencing winter right now, what are we doing to make the winter feel more cozy?
I've been making soup, binge-watching my favorite YouTubers, and listening to my favorite podcasts (been a recent new fan of Giggly Squad, thank you to Natalie at Beacons for putting me on) when I have to step foot outside. And I've been loving the new season of Severance—every episode reliably sends me down a rabbit hole of convoluted Lumen conspiracy theories.

If you have ideas for winter activities (or crazy Severance theories), reply and let me know. January might feel like it's years long, but we can romanticize winter together. |

Today we're dropping a long-awaited feature that business-savvy creators have been asking us for: email deliverability scores.
The new email deliverability dashboard is available in your account right now on your Email Marketing Overview page, and it allows you to see all of your critical email deliverability metrics in one place. |
Which may have you asking... what is an email deliverability score, and why is it important? Your deliverability score helps you understand how well your emails reach your audience—the higher your score (out of 100), the greater the percentage of the emails that you send actually land in your subscribers' inboxes. Email deliverability score is impacted by your email performance metrics: - Recipients
- Open rate
- Click rate
- Bounce rate
- Spam rate
This new dashboard shows you all of these metrics in one place, and what your resulting email deliverability score is based on those metrics. tl;dr: By improving your email engagement metrics, you can improve your deliverability score. This means more of your emails will actually land in subscribers' inboxes.
Having all of these metrics in one place where you create and send your emails in Beacons helps you to understand the impact that your emails are having, so you can track what works, identify trends, and optimize your emails to keep improving your deliverability score. |
Next week, I'll talk more about how to improve these numbers. But in the meantime, you can check out our resources on email best practices: |

This week's Hot Take section is subtitled "The TikTok Ban That Wasn't."
Does anyone remember getting really upset at your parents or siblings as a kid, throwing a few prized items in a backpack, and “running away” to….your friend’s house around the corner, where their mom called your mom and let you pretend for a while to blow off steam, eventually sending you home after dinner?
It feels like that's basically what happened last weekend. It's pretty unsettling that an important income source for millions of people can vanish over the course of an hour, and then come back less than a day later.
Even though we’re so glad that it wasn’t gone for long, it was a good reminder: even though some actions are out of creators' control, there are others that are within your control that you can do now to protect your following, your audience, and your business.
These are things that no platform can take away, like building email lists and encouraging your audience to follow you across platforms through your Link in Bio.
Data is also important. Even if you had to start from zero one day, having your data saved ensures that you have a track record that proves you know how to do it.
But don’t expect future brand partners or hiring managers to take your word for it: use your Beacons media kit as a downloadable snapshot of your accomplishments. While live data connections are great for auto-updating stats, if that connection was severed, having screenshots and PDF downloads of your media kit is crucial to your portfolio.
Anything else you've been doing to future-proof your business that other creators might benefit from? Let me know! |
At the end of last week, some of you may have noticed that the “email receipt” section was suddenly missing from our digital product pages. Understandably, this led to a lot of questions, so I wanted to clarify what we did and why (to make your sales and email marketing experience better on Beacons!) We removed the option to customize email receipts for purchases on Beacons as part of a recent security update. Email receipts are now standardized to ensure a more secure and reliable experience.
And to clarify, your customer still receives a receipt when they make a purchase! Whatever you’re selling, just be sure to include that as a link or PDF in the product files section of the product builder, and it will still be sent to your customer automatically.
There’s just no longer an option for you to customize this email receipt, because ultimately, this allows us to offer this sales and email functionality at much lower prices than other platforms without making any compromises on security. |
And per Beacons creators' suggestions, we’ve updated these receipts even further to be a purely transactional email with no extra comments or thank-you’s, now that you can’t make them your own.
If there are extra details or instructions you need to include for your customers, you still have options for that! You can add a PDF to your product files section with all necessary steps, or you can set up a fully customized post-purchase email workflow with
Email Automations! This feature allows you to set up automated email sequences that will send any information you'd like—quickly and effortlessly. 🥳 |
Ivan has a super helpful YouTube tutorial on how to set these up, which you can check out here 🙌 |

That's all for this week—if anyone needs me this weekend, I'll be on Do Not Disturb, next to my Happy Lamp. Hope you have a cozy weekend, too! |
