My new year’s resolution in January 2024 was to learn how to play guitar. I know—eye roll.
I’m not very good yet, but in theory it makes me feel cool. Playing crowd favorite guitar songs is a great party trick. (Not that I know, because I haven’t felt bold enough to pull that party trick out yet. I'll leave it to the actually talented musicians at Beacons, like our SWE Henry.)
But I’m also wary of a phenomenon that sometimes happens when an overexcited amateur like me whips out their guitar at a party. They get... carried away. |
You know the vibe. They just keep going with that one "Smoke on the Water" riff, even when everyone else at the party has mentally moved on and just wants to put the Spotify playlist back on and listen to "Juno."
In guitar and in business and in life, it’s important to understand the delicate art of knowing when to stop.
Email marketers, I'm looking at you (and me, even though this is getting a little too meta 😅).
Sales emails are important for anyone running a business, but you don’t want to be that person who keeps sending sales emails to a subscriber, even after they’ve made the purchase 🥴. We don’t want you to be that person either. Luckily for you, you won’t have to worry about this when you send emails with Beacons 😍.
We built a new feature this week to address this exact issue of knowing when to stop your email sequences, so you can confidently run sales funnels on Beacons—and it's live now!
More on that below. But first, I have an important follow up from last week: thank you to everyone who submitted some AI generated images of our French hot chocolate scene. As always, you deliver some real gems in your replies.
I included three of the AI generated images that I thought were the best—scroll to the very bottom to see them.
Which reminds me… did you know that you can actually AI generate your own images to use in your Beacons emails, right in Beacons? |
In fact, adding images to emails can drive 650% higher engagement than text-only messages (🤯). And if you don’t have any immediately ready to include, this Beacons-specific feature lets you generate the perfect image that you can seamlessly add to your email in 60 seconds.
If you create an AI-generated image this week for your emails, I want to see it. Send them to me here or tag us @beaconsai on IG and hashtag #beaconsGRORT. We’ll reshare them to the rest of the Beacons community! Anyway, here’s Wonderwall those BIG updates to Beacons email sales funnels 🤩 |

Emails drive sales. That’s a fact. But setting up the right email sequence to drive those sales has always been tricky. But not anymore! Email sales funnels just got a LOT easier on two fronts, thanks to these new Beacons features: 1. One-click sales funnel templates! A highly requested update: you can now share (or sell 🤑) a link to an email automation, like a sales funnel, that other Beacons users can duplicate with one click.
2. Stop your emails with a sale! Now you can add end conditions to your email sequences. Once a user has purchased a product, they won’t receive any more emails in the sequence.
|
These two updates are the perfect 1-2 punch to upgrade your email flows and send with confidence 🤝 |
Get the perfect setup without needing to spend hours doing actual setup. Then, put it in action with confidence that you’ll automatically stop emailing a subscriber when they make a purchase. |

YOUR ACCOUNT IS UNDER REVIEW might be the scariest 5-word phrase in the creator world.
We get a lot of panicked outreach from Beacons creators when you’re getting ready to launch a new product to a huge list of email subscribers—and you suddenly get a notification that you can’t send any more emails until someone on our team reviews your account.
So I want to talk about why we must occasionally strike this fear into the hearts of Beacons creators everywhere and why it’s actually a GOOD thing for you, not a bad one.
First, let’s get our definitions lined up. |
What is “email deliverability”? Deliverability refers to the concept of actually getting your email into the right place in your subscribers’ inbox. The most obvious example of this: avoiding the spam folder.
What is a "Sender Reputation"? Good deliverability is function of a good sender reputation score. It's kind of like a credit score: Email Inbox Providers—like Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook, etc—are constantly evaluating you as a sender, based on your history of opens, clicks and best of all, replies. Better sender reputation = better email karma = better deliverability.
The super simple explanation of why we place account holds is that we want your emails to your subscribers to land in their inboxes, not in their spam folders.
Email inbox providers have an incentive to keep spam out of your inbox and only show you the emails you want to see. If you're a new sender without an established sender reputation score, it can be hard to prove people want to see your emails, which digs you into a hole that becomes hard to climb out of. Placing this brief hold helps us work some secret email deliverability magic (by which I mean totally above board and boring technical code stuff) to ensure your new domain is warmed up and ready to send!
Our Chief Technology Officer, David, and our Chief Engineering Officer, Greg, lead the charge here and work hard to get this right for you. |
It also protects our primary Beacons sender reputation from the occasional bad actor or spam bots, which helps keep all Beacons creators' emails safe. So we do what we have to do to protect you guys from that and keep your emails in subscribers' inboxes. 💪 The next time you see someone panicking about having a hold placed on their email account, please remind them that this doesn’t mean they did anything wrong.
Our team reviews all accounts within 2-3 business days and then you can send as many emails as your heart desires, and you can be sure you’re giving your customers the best chance of actually seeing them. 🫶 |
Last week, Beacons went to TwitchCon!
Shannon (Beacons Account Manager) and Lancy (Beacons Product Manager) were at TwitchCon in San Diego to celebrate the new native Twitch API that allows Beacons to directly display your Twitch stats. And they had a blast! |
In between fangirling over Twitch streamers like xQc and Adrian, they hosted a creator Pickleball event and took a deep dive into the world of streaming creators. They were so impressed by how many creators in attendance already knew and loved Beacons—and particularly Beacons media kits.
Did you spot Shannon and Lancy? Or were you there too? Reply and give us a shout, and share any photo of yourself at TwitchCon for a chance to be featured in the next newsletter! |

And speaking of creator events, next week Shannon and I (along with a few other Beacons team members) will be at the Creator Games Conference in Atlanta! If you'll be there too, send me a note and let's chat! |
Shoutout to everyone who sent in their AI-generated images that were totally cute and cozy and not at all uncanny. As promised, these were the three best ones IMO: |
1. Submitted by Sherri Torrez - I’m getting strong Bridgerton vibes from this one.
2. Submitted by Antony Ciccone - The ad-libbed croissants were a nice touch!
3. Submitted by Dylan Dubois (engineer at Beacons and highly regarded Chief ChatGPT Whisperer, VP of Human x AI Relations) - Bonus points for a cool outfit that I’d actually like to wear, minus some points for broken fingers. On that note... have a great weekend! ☕️ |
