Need some more ideas on how to be a civic rockstar? Here’s one: advocate for better STEM education and resources with our program, Make STEM 100%.
We’re over here writing to our school representatives to let them know how important equitable STEM education is to us. Here’s what some of our members are sharing:
“Improved STEM education is how we run towards the future,” said DoSomething member Jayden K., 21. “Technology is the invention of anything that makes our lives and society easier and having access to the ability to become educated on how to create such technology with math and science especially for young women can help push us further into the future and change society as we see it today.”
DoSomething member Samantha G., 17 said, “As a woman going into the neuroscience field, better STEM education, especially for marginalized groups, is keenly important to me. Public schools struggle enough with motivating kids to learn, but marginalized students suffer that burden the most. Growing up in a world with the majority of neurosurgeons and doctors in general being white men, I’m determined to change that. More enticing stem education would motivate students of all backgrounds to pursue an amazing field and conquer these stereotypes. I want to help make that happen.”
“Having better STEM education at my school is important to me because it helps me to understand the world around me better. STEM education provides me with knowledge and skills that are necessary for my future career. With a better STEM education, I can learn about the latest technology, solve complex problems, and apply my knowledge to real-world situations,” said DoSomething member Tristan B., 18.
One small step for STEM-minded students, one giant step for equitable education! When you write to your school representatives, we’ll enter you to earn a $2k scholarship to say thanks! P.S. This program closes on March 27, so join in before it’s over!
