Hiya, DoSomething members:
Happy New Year! We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty psyched for 2023. Not only does a new congress start today (and with the first-ever Gen Z representative!), but this is the year we totally see you stepping into your civic power! If we had a crystal ball, it
would most certainly show you and your peers taking action and making positive impact in your community. And we are here for that!
ICYMI…we’ve teamed up with some pretty awesome athletes who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to giving back. In fact, we visited the Sugar Bowl on NYE to honor them and recruit 1,000 young people to join them in volunteering in their communities (pssst! That’s you)!
Ready to make 2023 the most impactful year yet? Us too. If you haven’t made your New Year’s resolution yet, there is still time. Our suggestion? Join the Good Works Team and participate in our Strength Through Service program. Not only will you earn certified volunteer hours, but you’ll be taking direct action to make change in your community. And the icing on the cake? You’ll be entered to earn a $2K scholarship. Has a resolution ever sounded so sweet?!
Let’s make this year the year we absolutely crush our resolutions. And literally change the world!
Let’s Do This! DoSomething
P.S. Speaking of athletes giving back, our thoughts are with Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin who went into cardiac arrest during an NFL game last night. His work holding local toy drives is a powerful reminder of the impact athletes can have on and off the field. |

Hey, you! When it comes to making a difference, we’re all on the same page.
This year, we’re flipping traditional volunteerism on its head and reminding you that service takes all of us–it’s not an isolated act. Not only is giving back good for our communities, it’s good for our souls. Our Strength Through Service program gives you the opportunity to give back in the way that matters most to you. Check out some of our members who are taking action in their communities today: |
“This campaign is important to me because even though I live in a small community with around 8,000 residents, we have a homeless population that is astronomical. By serving my local community it makes me feel accomplished and proud that I can help my community in any way possible,” said DoSomething member Bailey B., 16. |
“This campaign was so important to me because I got to connect with people in a way I don't typically get to,” said DoSomething member Ally D., 18. “Soup kitchens are full of diverse people, and making sure everyone gets to share a nice meal together is an amazing experience.” |
DoSomething member Amy D., 18 said, “This campaign is important to me because I want to be able to give others the opportunity to live well. Using any of the clothes or shoes we donated to keep themselves warm through this winter. Or also use the toys we donated to give to their family for Christmas. Everyone should have a chance to be able to enjoy the winter and not be cold.” Yayyy, buddy! You all are crushing it. Raise your hand if you’re deeply impressed by the Good Works Team: ✋🏾✋🏽✋🏼✋🏻. Join today and enter to earn a $2,000 scholarship. What are you waiting for? |
Our hero today is…Kavi Sharma, American Girl Doll’s 2023 Girl of the Year. And the first South Asian girl of the year! The Girl of the Year is always a limited edition release and focuses on cultural diversity. Because say it with us people, “Representation matters!”
ICYMI…a Detroit teen is calling attention to major issues affecting her and her peers like mental health resources in school, transportation challenges, and more. Now that is what we call using your voice for good!
January is Teen Driving Awareness Month. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States. Spend this month ensuring you and your friends are staying safe behind the wheel! Happy Birthday…to Greta Thunberg! Our socially-conscious, climate crisis fighting, queen!
