Camp Reboot is in session, and our first order of business is to harness the power of creativity 🎨
Mind Craft isn’t your average arts & crafts activity, and so far we’ve received over 300 submissions to our Mind Craft Showcase! This goes to show how many young people are excited about using their creative talents to nurture their minds.
Not only is Mind Craft all about tapping into the science behind how art can improve your mental health, but it’s also a sweet opportunity to build a community of young people who are committed to improving their mental wellbeing. By sharing your artwork on Mind Craft, you’ll be part of a network of thousands of other budding creatives who are realigning their mind to continue focusing on the issues they care about most.
To get you inspired, DoSomething has partnered with social influencers that showcase how they use their craft to support their mental wellness. Check out their Mind Craft journeys here: Pierra, Erica, Jessee,
Bri, and Laurenzo.

We 👀 you taking the first step towards mental wellness! Take a look at how these DoSomething members are flexing their craft. |
DoSomething member Catherine W. said, "I created this art piece from a previous design when I felt like my life was constantly changing directions and me not knowing what I wanted to do in my past state of mind. I painted the design with a representation of myself meditating and finding a sense of peace, not knowing what to do next but not letting it cloud my mind with how I feel about myself." |
"Crocheting has been a huge anxiety reducer. It allows me to calm my mind and focus on something other than what I am stressing with," said Christina M., 17. "It also is a way to allow my creativity to come out and create things I never knew was possible. This specific piece took at least 10 hours to make. The best part is getting the result that you imagined in your mind." |
Back to school… Issa Rae is sharing her best advice for young Black creatives and it’s full of amazing tips for college students, whether you’re heading back to campus or going off to school for the first time. Don’t miss it!
BIG news… According to a new report from American University, Everytown for Gun Safety and the Southern Poverty Law Center, 74% of young people in the United States believe gun violence is a problem and almost 60% want to see stricter gun laws. Our hot take? Young people are ready to see change NOW.
Tech 🤝climate action… The World Wildlife Foundation and Google are pairing up to bridge the gap between AI and environmentalism, by launching a new project to help protect mangroves in Mexico. Dynamic duo, much?
Attention, D.C. members!… Mark your calendars for August 26th, as the annual March on Washington will be taking place at the Lincoln Memorial. DoSomething partners with March on Washington as the 60th anniversary emerges as an opportunity for the next generation of young changemakers (yes, YOU!) to reflect on the history and progress we've made to date and join the movement.
