Earlier this week, Trump waved his magic wand and eliminated New York City’s controversial congestion pricing. Predictably, the MAGA right was elated, while lefties, including most of the press and New York’s Governor Kathy Hochul (who spearheaded this program, and is the person I’m assuming Trump is screwing with right now), framed the move as the act of a “king” who must be stopped. Fantastic, everyone is wrong again. First, the federal government can absolutely intervene here. The roads in question are federally funded, and the city needs federal approval to slap on a new toll (which Biden granted back when this was not “the act of a dictator”). But also? Congestion pricing works, and New Yorkers are mostly happy with the results. Sure, now they’re relying on their local government to keep their subways safe again. But that’s between them and their shitty government. Sir, let them have their funny little roadways.

Two more Fetterman aides quit this week because the senator is “open” to Trump’s policies and met with him 1:1. Obviously, these people thought they were signing up to work for the Hillary-Biden machine, not a Rust Belt populist, and that’s definitely sad for them. But, look, Fetterman is basically the Democrats’ glitch in the matrix — no coastal neurosis, no globalist NGO-speak, just a man in a hoodie who cares about jobs and national security more than pronouns and climate catastrophizing. Naturally, the media frames this as flirtation with Trumpism, but the Democrats are lost in the woods, while Republicans are living in a golden age alternate universe. Fetterman’s not joining the party just yet, but he sees where the crowd is heading: it’s him or trantifa and her merry band of boomers until Russia nukes us, and only one of these people has ever won an election.

Three men in MAGA hats who claimed to work for DOGE entered San Francisco City Hall last week carrying flash drives and demanding copies of records, according to the Sheriff’s Department. A city hall manager claimed the individuals didn’t present warrants and were “[filming] their interactions” — telltale signs these weren’t actual DOGE employees, but a different breed of zoomer: young Twitch streamers filming what sounds like a (based, hilarious) prank video. Predictably, America’s “singing outside the Treasury building” camp is panicked that Rocket Man’s cost-cutting agency has inspired kids to harass their local city hall receptionists (admittedly not great). Listen, I support America’s youth taking an interest in government waste. Just try a public meeting or something before the heist video next time. Is it more persuasive? Probably not. But please remember: you’re not a violent meth addict, which means you can actually go to prison.
