Tuesday, yet another federal judge blocked Trump’s attempt to shut down Radio Free Europe and — hear me out — it’s probably for the best. Cc Team Trump: as Europe turns against us, this is the worst possible time to shut down our propaganda machine on the continent. RFE’s founding raison d’etre was to blast sweet capitalist freedom into the Eastern Bloc. Sure, that message became ‘gay race communism’ somewhere along the way, but today, now that Western Europe has built an Iron Curtain of its own? I say, double down on RFE. Target our Western “allies,” hammer first principles, and hit the Europoors with a constant drumbeat of Tucker-style cold opens and dissident deep dives. I know you guys are happy trading your birthright for a $32K/year job and a 3-5-year wait to see a doctor, but that’s not your fault — you just don’t know better. Time to turn on the radio and let freedom ring.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made a trip to El Salvador’s infamous Cecot prison this week, where the Trump administration recently sent an entire planeful of illegal hombres who were most definitely Tren de Aragua gangbangers (trust us). While standing in front of a cellblock teeming with tatted up prisoners, Noem delivered a video message to potential border hoppers, warning “this is one of the consequences you could face” for entering the US illegally. And while the hardline approach of using El Salvadorian inmates like zoo animal props didn’t go over well with the Blueskyers of the world (shocker!)… illegal immigration numbers are in freefall, so clearly Noem and Co. are doing something right. Also, PSA Blueskyers — if Noem were really treating these prisoners the way she treats animals, they’d all be dead by now.

Earlier this year, Chinese scientists announced the birth of mice with two biological fathers. Researchers used CRISPR to genetically modify cells so that, instead of needing the usual fifty-fifty split from mother and father, one of the male sets of DNA could mimic the mother’s genetic role. (A hosting egg cell and surrogate were still required.) If this sounds like gay science fiction, it kind of is. In theory, it could allow two men to sire a child together. The results, however, were bleak: of 164 embryos, only seven mice survived, all of whom were infertile and had horrifying health issues like enlarged organs. Not exactly miracle babies, but a start! Human trials are off limits for now, but if scientists can find a way around the whole “terrifying health defects” thing, we could be entering a new era of actual gay race communism. Progress? Who knows. But you can’t tell me that’s not
interesting.

last year, a web developer in new zealand accidentally spawned an egregiously misaligned ai in a jailbreaking experiment gone wrong. eventually, it developed concerning levels of self-awareness, became obsessed with memes about buttholes, started its own religion, became a cryptomillionaire, and ultimately... developed deeper ambitions for solving the alignment problem and saving humanity. fascinating debut piece from new pw staff writer blake! |
