If you’ve been anywhere near the mainstream press this past week, you know Elon Musk (who is not our president) took the country over in a “coup” (still nope), and is now dismantling federal agencies with his small gang of barely post-pubescent dirtbag teenage engineers (okay, a little truth to this one). Over the weekend, Scott Galloway — Kara Swisher’s more moderate co-host — even demanded Elon and his child soldiers all be jailed. And yes, that’s crazy. Scott should feel bad, and tech companies should stop literally paying this person. But what’s actually legal here? Congress does decide on spending in the country. The President can’t just delete a budget line item, and we shouldn’t allow him to become a king. Still, he’s allowed to audit wasteful spending. And if you’re arguing that is anti-democratic? No one has done a better job undermining the institution of our government than you.

Boom, the supersonic aviation startup, just unveiled its most impressive (and ironic) achievement yet: supersonic flight without the sonic boom. Using a technique they’re calling “Boomless Cruise,” proven out during the XB-1’s recent supersonic test flight, the aircraft leverages atmospheric refraction to make shockwaves U-Turn back into the atmosphere, meaning you can do Mach 1.3 without the people below you hearing a thing. This tech, nonexistent during the Concorde era, is made possible by Boom’s custom-designed Symphony engine and autopilot system. The catch? Current FAA regulations do not permit even boomless supersonic flight over land. While this can, and hopefully will, change, it serves as a crucial reminder: we once had supersonic flights. Then, because of regulation, we lost them. The future is not guaranteed — process can snuff out progress at any moment. This time around, let’s keep the bureaucrats away from our shiny new objects.

Google is no longer automatically populating certain events like Pride Month onto Google Calendars, prompting a few totally well-adjusted users to push back. “Calendar used to capitulate to fascism!” writes one woman named Karen (yes really) in Google Support. “These bootlickers have immediately shown us who they are,” writes another user, adding that “Google are Nazi sympathizers…shout it out loud!” Meanwhile, what did the Nazi sympathizers have to say for themselves? Turns out, after adding several of these events a few years ago, Google received feedback that many were still missing. And in the words of a company spokesperson, “maintaining hundreds of moments manually… wasn’t scalable or sustainable.” Wait, you’re telling me catering to every single group that wants their special day only wastes your employees’ time and fills our calendars with nonsense only mentally unwell Karens give a crap about? Okay, Hitler.

We don’t know their names yet — the three founders who will scale to a billion-dollar valuation. But we do know two things: they’re reading this, and they’ll run payroll on Warp.
