To panicked shock and consternation across the internet (but especially on Threads) Trump announced he’s eliminating the Department of Education. Now, the question is what responsibilities does this department actually have, and what do any of its overpaid bureaucrats actually do? Long story short, the answer is basically nothing, which Trump’s detractors, in their ignorant screeching, accidentally confirmed all week. “oh btw,” one viral post read, “middle schoolers can’t read, high schoolers can’t write a proper essay… but sure, get rid of the dept. of education LOL.” Instinctively, leftists seem to understand the DOE is just a giant, bloated government jobs program, and its approximately $240 billion budget isn’t spent on students, but politically well-connected special interest groups — the black hole where most of our “moral good” spending dies. They love this, reasonable people don’t. The best time to abolish the DOE was 45 years ago, but the
second best time is today.

This week, the media establishment’s reactions to the Democratic Party’s collapse continued to flood X, and — surprise! — pundits appear to have learned literally nothing. Trump’s victory wasn’t because of grocery prices, but a “sense that whiteness is under threat,” said a wild-eyed MSNBC pundit. “I am NOT going to listen to transphobia at this table!” a CNN guest shrieked in response to the gentle suggestion parents might not want boys in their little girl’s locker room. Joy Ann Reid even invited a Yale professor onto her show to tell her viewers it was time for them to cut off ties with family members who didn’t vote for Kamala. Guys, Trump won the electoral college, popular vote, House, Senate, and every swing state. You need to yeet the progressive extremists from your party immediately — and if you fail to take any lessons from this apocalyptic L? You only have yourselves to blame.

A new AI polling startup used by Semafor this election cycle incorrectly predicted a Kamala victory, though its founders claim the tool was slightly more accurate than traditional polling. “Statistically speaking, we’re still within the margin of error,” said founder Cameron Fink, who noted his AI tool’s prediction for Nebraska was almost perfect (and thank God for that — I was worried we wouldn’t have accurate data for the 2026 Omaha Mayoral race). In any case, while the AI poll failed to accurately project the presidential winner, it’s still a major win for the technology. Robot analysts making BS predictions that don’t come true? Just like human analysts?? Outstanding. The only thing missing is some trademark name for its scam methodology (“80,000 simulations” and “13 keys” are both taken), and an unearned book deal / paid contributorship with MSNBC. At that point, I’ll be
pleased to confirm: AGI has officially arrived.

ElevenLabs blew our minds |
An aversion to people speaking for him, and getting everything wrong, was one of the motivating factors that first got Solana writing — he is incredibly (obnoxiously, one might say) picky about how and where his voice is used. Historically, that means he’s just been speaking for himself, and, importantly, by himself. But all that changed when ElevenLabs cloned his voice, and blew our minds. They nailed the tone and inflection so naturally that we embedded it into our "We Are the Media Now" article, and all his articles moving forward. ElevenLabs generates high-quality, human-like speech from text in 29 languages. If you don’t have a voice as awesome as our intrepid founder / CEO /
billionaire philanthropist internet legend, you can choose from thousands of voices across different ages, accents, and regions. Their text-to-speech is contextually aware and emotionally rich, ideal for audiobook publishers, creators making video voiceovers or podcasts, video game creators, and film companies. The audio natively integrates into our stack, giving our audience the opportunity to listen to our articles like a podcast.
