Like a Kraken on the online sea, Trump returned to Twitter yesterday amidst a hurricane of ads, attention, and a formal letter penned by EU Bugman Thierry Breton, who threatened Elon Musk in advance of the billionaire American entrepreneur’s evening chat with our former American president. There were rules, the EU bureaucrat reminded Elon, and they must be followed — or else. To drive his point home, Breton invoked recent developments in the UK, where London police implied Elon could be arrested for his public posts. The sentiment (again: that a famous American businessman should be arrested for public posting) was echoed by a former British Twitter executive in a long, psychotic piece for the Guardian. Will anyone in our government speak out about the election manipulation, or the obvious intimidation tactic? Unclear, but I do know this: the calming coconut before the storm has passed. Our discourse is about
to go insane.

Sunday, the LA Times published an article titled “How not to be a terrible tourist: What Europeans want travelers to know.” In it, the writer uses quotes from tourism industry Europoors to offer arbitrary advice such as: stop doing pretend German accents, choose “sustainable” travel options, and be nice to service workers. Aside from the fact that I can’t think of a faster way to ruin a vacation than worrying if my choice of tapas restaurant is morally righteous, content like this — which has no utility other than to serve the self-absorbed tastes of its editorial team — is one of the reasons the media ecosystem is in a state of collapse. I don’t care about what Europeans think about my travel plans. I just need them to be good extras in my twice-yearly vacations, for which I will happily support their tourism-based economy with my ever-strengthening American dollars. You’re
welcome.

Vera Liddell, a food service worker at a school district outside Chicago, has been sentenced to nine years for stealing over $1.5 million worth of chicken wings during the pandemic. Per court documents, over the course of two years, Liddell stole 11,000 cases of wings meant for students, and used a district van to distribute them to various clients. Without a doubt, it’s a serious crime warranting punishment. But nine years? Considering the people who defrauded California of billions by writing “Mr. Poopy Pants” on pandemic unemployment claims got far less, it does seem disproportionate. And you can’t say Liddell’s scheme wasn’t logistically impressive. I propose a different punishment: fine her, lock her up for a couple years, then give her a brochure for YC. America is ready for a Wingstop disruptor. Ms. Liddell — do you got that dog in you?

A Perfect Text-to-Speech Clone |
The ElevenLabs text-to-speech clone is so good, we can't stop Solana from having his clone read him everything—recipes, invoices, even the Declaration of Independence. Solana himself said, “Why would I want to listen to anyone other than myself read this?” Their technology nails the tone and inflection perfectly, which is why we embedded it into our “We Are the Media Now” article and will continue using it for all future articles. ElevenLabs generates high-quality, human-like speech from text in 29 languages. If you don’t have a voice as awesome as our intrepid founder / CEO / billionaire philanthropist internet legend, you can choose from thousands of voices across different ages, accents, and regions.
Ideal for audiobook publishers, creators making video voice overs or podcasts, video game creators, and film companies. The audio integrates seamlessly into our stack, allowing our audience to listen to our articles like a podcast.
