In a wild thread on X, Reid Hoffman addressed the claim he donated $7 million to Kamala in exchange for her firing Lina Khan, Biden’s antitrust czar. Following Hoffman’s comments that he thought Khan sucked (which, ftr, she does), Bernie Sanders pounced. The horror of money in politics — billionaires! Paying the president! To fire objectively terrible people! The news rapidly spread through the press, and “Friends of Bernie” even turned it all into a commercial. The problem? None of it happened. As Reid explained, he hadn’t yet donated to Kamala (though he’s a standard normie lib and probably will, let’s be honest), nor had he spoken with her. Perhaps, he suggested, Bernie confused him with Reed Hastings, the founder of Netflix? Who recently donated $7 million to Kamala, and also hasn’t spoken with her about Lina Khan. Folks, it’s a chaotic, bitter election season, with no shortage of surprises. But the communists? Refreshingly still quite dumb.

Friday, the SF Chronicle ran a breathless piece describing the “aggressive” sweeps that have begun in the city following Newsom’s order to clear the state’s encampments. An “unhoused man,” the reporter tells us, had “almost all of his belongings” thrown away by the police, who proceeded to arrest him for his only crime, which was that of Being Poor. A heart-wrenching story, if essentially fictional. The belongings were hoarded trash; the man a thrice-charged wife beater; and the crime a straightforward act of trespassing in spite of offers of free shelter. But I digress. It’s true shelter and jail space in San Francisco are in short supply, which is why I propose bus tickets home. But most ‘unhoused’ advocates reject this too, so here’s an alternative: put the tents outside their homes. They get to be noble saviors, we get peace and quiet, and everyone lives happily ever after.

Should executives be provided massive, performance-based compensation, which their shareholders agreed to? What if that compensation is “excessive,” according to a judge whose opinion on the matter we are for some reason discussing in a free country? And what if, after that judge invalidated the compensation in a largely vibes-based ruling, the executive’s shareholders once again voted to give him the money? Friday, Delaware Judge Kathaleen McCormick, the woman responsible for the unprecedented decision to strip Elon Musk of his $56 billion Tesla pay day, was faced with many questions. But rather than consider the shareholders’ sentiment, which she previously cited in her reasoning to punish Musk, she only wanted to know why the company had held another vote. This was, she said, unprecedented. Long story short? She just doesn’t like the guy, and I’m tired of pretending it isn’t that simple. Buy Bitcoin.
