During the next crisis, richer nations (America) must provide “equitable” access to information, vaccines, technical support, medical infrastructure, supplies, and straight up $$$ to developing nations (everyone else). It seems our historical acts of charity have not been enough. Henceforth, everything we have must be given away. According to the NYT, only this can “[trump] the nationalist ethos that emerged during Covid-19,” and encourage global solidarity. But in a surprise glimmer of sanity, America is refusing to sign, which is fantastic news. Because while the Times is terrified of a growing “nationalist ethos,” my biggest takeaway from the pandemic was just that globalism is a total disaster. We still have people sleeping on the street in San Francisco. It’s time for Africa to get a job.

Remember Canada’s attempt to extort Meta by requiring payments to Canadian news outlets? (As a refresher, Meta sidestepped the rule by banning Canadian news links entirely.) Now, a new study from the University of Toronto shows the bill has crippled Canadian news orgs — without hurting user engagement on Meta. Instead of sharing links, Canadians are screenshotting entire articles, causing some publishers to lose as much as 70% of their audience. Poetically, if tragically, the ban has disproportionately hurt Canada's smaller media companies, while larger outlets are less affected. What options does Trudeau have left? He can no longer use the "save small businesses" line, and now that resourceful Canadians have adopted the screenshot technique, he can't argue that Meta's ban is restricting critical information about wildfires. There are no bullets left in his chamber, which, if I'm honest, is a good thing to hear about a Marxist.

Congressional Republicans published a new report detailing the extensive policy advice McKinsey has apparently given the CCP on defense policy over the past decade. Though the news has been greeted with a bit of outrage, most agree that having the middle quartile of the Ivy League draw up state capacity strategy for our biggest geopolitical foe is, actually, a total victory for America.
