Hiya, DoSomething members:
The struggle of finding the right tools and resources to get ready for election day is real, IYKYK.
Confidence is key when it comes to closing the gap between voters and casting their ballots. That’s why during National Voter Education Week we’re here to provide resources to give voters the information they need to get out there and exercise their civic duty. Name a better confidence booster…we’ll wait.
From helping you find a polling place to understanding what’s on your ballots, National Voter Education Week has us feeling #blessed. Seriously, they’re taking all the mystery and confusion out of voting to make it easier to understand how, when, and where to vote.
Each day, there’s a new challenge you can tune into. Yesterday, it was #voteready which is your key to finding out what your voter registration status is or how to get registered to vote. If you missed it, no worries! Hop on that link and get started now. Here’s a breakdown of the week ahead: - Tuesday (today, ya’ll!): Get #mailready and request your mail-in ballot.
- Wednesday: Want to vote in person? Get #voteplanready so you’re all set for election day.
- Thursday: Check out what’s on your ballot and get #ballotready so you can go into election day already prepared for who and what to vote for.
- Friday: Encourage your family and friends to get out and vote by letting them know you’re #electionready
And don’t forget to share your voting plan with us! Your Plan, Your Vote makes it easier than ever to combine all these steps and ensure you have a plan for how you’ll vote in the 2022 midterm elections. Your vote literally has the power to create a better future. You’ll even enter for the opportunity to earn a $1000 scholarship–all by ensuring YOU have a plan to vote.
We will be tuning into the hashtags throughout the week and can’t wait to see how you’re engaging with National Voter Education Week! Let’s Do This! DoSomething |

If you’ve questioned whether or not your vote matters, you’re not alone. We get it, the world is an unpredictable place and it’s not always easy to see how your efforts make a positive impact.
The fact is, however, that our democracy is becoming more diverse and influenced by young people like you. That gives us hope. YOU give us hope!
To keep up the momentum of our extraordinary Voter Captains, we’re highlighting a few of them who are absolutely killing it by motivating their peers and families to get out and vote: |
“As an international student and a first-time voter, I can say that it is so important what the representatives of the country can do for us to be in a better place and how our country will get better. Getting people and teenagers knowledgeable about voting allows us to be and have a better nation,” said DoSomething member Thaymiluz, 19. DoSomething member Tellarie T., 21 said, “Registering voters matters to me because a lot of young people ignore their right to vote and I let them know without using their right to vote they don’t have a voice. We should use our voting power to make a difference in what matters to us most." |
Feel that? That’s inspiration running through your veins and we feel it, too! Join Thaymiluz and Tellarie by helping others in your community register to vote by signing up to be a Voter Captain.
Besides the fluttery feeling of knowing you helped others become more civically engaged, being a Voter Captain means you’ll have a shot at accumulating volunteer hours and you’ll be entered to earn a $1,000 scholarship! |
Don’t miss out… on Vibe Check: A Community Conversation about Mental Health, a FREE virtual event on October 13th. Mental health is on a lot of our minds lately, and this event is intended to help young people find new strategies and resources for themselves and their peers. See you there!
