Happy National Voter Registration Day! Join us as we work to register 30,000 eligible new voters this year.Â
Raise your hand if you’re ready to stretch your civic engagement muscle and claim our democracy: ✋🏾✋🏽✋🏼✋🏻 Â
First celebrated in 2012, National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) is a nonpartisan civic holiday where thousands of organizations, volunteers, and young people just like you work to ensure their friends, family, and neighbors make a plan to register and vote! To date, nearly 4.7 million voters have registered to vote on this holiday! Every September, NVRD rallies volunteers from across the country to hit the streets in a coordinated effort to get folks registered to vote (because in more than half the states, youth voter registration is lower than it was in 2018)! This holiday is all about registering voters, mobilizing volunteers, and educating citizens on their options. How cool is that?!Â
Â
With an increase in new restrictive voting laws, registering and casting a vote this November is crucial now more than ever. Our democracy simply doesn’t function properly unless we all have (and exercise) a fundamental right to vote. Voting should be easy. And we’re here to help make that happen!Â
Check out all the ways you can get involved on National Voter Registration Day (and maybe even earn a scholarship)! Â

DoSomething member Fatima S., 17 said, “This campaign holds a special place in my heart for two reasons. One it's sponsored by Monster High, a show that helped me move past toxic friends through its portrayal of real ones. And two, because if I were to know all of this at the beginning of my freshmen year, I would've had a better high school experience. So I hope my mistakes can help someone else.”  |
“I remember being really nervous when I just started middle school, so I hope that I could make someone’s day a little better,” said DoSomething member Emily N., 14. “I couldn’t find an opportunity to give it to a middle schooler though because I was in high school but today my dad went to pick up my sister and I for an appointment so I gave it to one of her classmates.” |
“This campaign is important to me because feeling alone is a very universal feeling. Nobody should feel alone and this campaign demonstrates the simple steps we can take to ensure that more people feel included. Another way I welcome new students into my school is through showing them where their classes are or inviting them to join my clubs,” said DoSomething member Jenny T., 16.  Join Emily, Jenny, and Fatima and build inclusive and welcoming communities in your school this fall. You’ll be entered to earn a $500 scholarship! |
