Happy Tuesday, y’all:
It’s almost our favorite season. And no, we’re not talking Pumpkin Spice Latte season. We’re talking Election Season! And with less than three months till November 8, it’s time we get serious about registering to vote.
Since 2018, over 350,000 new voters have registered through DoSomething. And in 2020, young voters turned out in record numbers, driven by issues like climate change, mental health, and racial justice. Why not join in on all that civic engagement fun and register to vote today?! Or, better yet, you’re already registered and want to check your registration status and polling location? That’s cool with us too! We promise it only takes two minutes.

Your vote this November doesn’t just help decide the next leaders of your state or community. Your vote helps decide how gun safety will be addressed in your community. The way your leaders will fight climate change. How reproductive rights will be protected. And support for equitable and diverse mental health resources. In fact, as of August 21st, 125 state ballot initiatives have been certified, helping to ensure that the issues YOU care about will be on the ballot this fall.
This election isn’t just about who–and what–is on the ballot. This election is about you, your peers, and the power to demand that our democracy works for everyone!
We encourage all eligible voters to take advantage of this awesome civil right. We’ve even got you covered with everything you need to know to show up as an informed voter this fall! Keep scrolling to hear from some fellow DoSomething members on why they are voting this November–and what issues are top of mind for them.

These DoSomething members know that using their voice–and vote–has the power to enact change on the issues that matter most to them. They are stretching their civic muscle and casting their vote this fall. Will you join them? Hear what’s on their mind this election season.
“I am thinking about my little brother who is trans and his fear now that his reproductive rights have been taken away. I think about my right to marry who I choose being taken away,” said DoSomething member Maple, 22. “I fear for all of the undocumented people in our country and I want to know what we're going to do to help the homeless. Lastly, I want to know how we can invest in education and in our teachers.”
DoSomething member Samantha P. said, “My mind is on my financial future, which impacts many facets of my life as a citizen like health care, home, debt, etc. I’m also concerned with the future of our liberties as a citizen, like freedom of speech (not hate speech) since much of today’s information is run by a select view dividing the nation with propaganda.”
Join both Maple and Samantha this election season to have your voice–and vote–be heard at the polls! |
FYI…Primary elections are already underway. Check out this week’s primary election voter registration deadlines and important election dates below! Florida & New York
Primary election (Congressional & State Senate): August 23 (today!)
ICYMI…Maxwell Frost, a 25-year-old candidate in Florida’s 10th congressional district, could be the first Gen Z congressperson!
Mind over matter…Kudos to actor Jonah Hill who is taking a pause from promoting his upcoming film to protect his mental health and put himself first. Repeat after us: it’s okay not to be okay.
Special S/O… to the 268 individuals we signed up to be poll workers last Tuesday during Poll Worker Recruitment Day. Way to show up for democracy! |
