Hiya, friends:
👏🏻👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿
Oh, don’t mind us. We’re just giving you a HUGE round of applause for the ah-mazing ways you stepped up to give back to your communities this summer! And while we know summer vacation is typically spent with visits to the beach, road trips with friends, and backyard bonfires, you managed to find time between all your busy summer plans to make a difference in your community!
It’s no surprise to us, though. Your generation is filled with change-makers passionate about making the world a better place! No, seriously. Approximately one in three young people report that they spend time volunteering–that’s nearly 600 million young people worldwide! What’s so awesome about volunteering is that it helps strengthen your collaboration and problem-solving skills, helps you build meaningful relationships, and can make real and tangible change.
Keep reading below to hear how your peers spent their summer volunteering. Maybe you’ll find some inspiration for how YOU can create a long-lasting impact in your community this fall and beyond!
Let’s Do This! DoSomething P.S. If you’re looking for even more volunteer opportunities, we’ve got you covered here!

These DoSomething members spent their summer vacation doing what they do best: giving back and making a difference! When not soaking up rays, these awe-inspiring change-makers were volunteering and finding ways to strengthen their community. Check out what they had to say about why volunteering to make a difference will never go out of style. |
“My best friend and I each dedicated about 19 hours of our week to collecting cigarette buds around our town. We found this was crucial towards maintaining a clean and safe environment for others to enjoy and for wildlife as well,” said DoSomething member Tracey C., 17. “It also encourages people to be more aware of the harm cigarettes are to the environment, the animals living in it and themselves. That is why this campaign is great to do.”

“I am currently enrolled in a Sociology of Education class and Policing in Practicum Academy. Both have made me realize how important community unity and helping others is. I decided this is a great way to give back since I am unable to in person while juggling all my internships,” said DoSomething member Keyira N., 22. |
“Donating clothes matters to me because I was able to aid in the process for reducing greenhouse gas emission,” said DoSomething member Alesheia C., 22! |
DoSomething member Elle W., 15 said “This campaign matters to me because I want to do everything I can to help the planet, even if it is something small like making sure aluminum cans make their way to a recycling center.”
Bravo to these DoSomething members! Join Tracey, Keyira, Alesheia, and Elle today and help strengthen your community…all by giving back! |
