DoSomething member Sydney F., 18, said, “I'm getting to vote for the first time in what seems like it could be one of the most important non-presidential election year cycles in modern American history. I plan to vote in both the primary and general elections to help protect my rights and elect officials who will do the same!”
“I wish I was of age to vote but I won't be 18 until January 2023! This election season, I really hope my peers realize the significance of voting and that every vote counts,” said DoSomething member Daijah H., 17. “I hope more people of color and younger people will take recent headlines as a wake-up call to exercise their right to vote and realize that we have more power when we stand together.”
“I want political officials to take things seriously. They need to have compassion in their hearts to care about people. Many political officials make society believe they care about them, when in reality some of them don’t. Political officials show distrust in their relationships with their citizens all the time. There needs to be a change in slavery practices, authority figures, gun laws, and school institutions,” said DoSomething member Olecia E., 17.
