We totally understand that civic engagement can look different for everyone. Maybe you’re interested in attending a rally or volunteering in your community. Or perhaps you find power in writing to representatives and demanding action on the causes you care about. 2022 is an election year, and that means you have the power to use your collective voice to make a difference! 

First step? Register to vote. We’re on a mission to register 30,000 new voters this election season. The best part? Registering to vote only takes two minutes! Your voice–and vote–are crucial to deciding the future of our country! Let’s stand up and demand that our democracy work for us ALL.

Elections can impact your life and the people you care about. These DoSomething members are sharing what’s on their minds this election season, and just how important it is to be an informed voter! 

DoSomething member Sreyaa, 16, said, “Before an election, it is always better to research the candidates and how they contribute to various social causes, and how efficiently they respond to sensitive issues”

“To begin, there is a lot on my mind! I’m anxious, worried, and frustrated. However, I am focused on reviewing candidates and placing my vote on the right people!” said DoSomething member Celeste I., 18.

“I think that my generation has a lot of very important goals and ideas for the future of this country,” said DoSomething member Sonia B., 19. “Elections are one very important way for us to start making that vision happen now. The sooner we start to act, the more chances we have of our vision becoming reality!”

Our heroes today…are Chloe Guillot and Pamela Styborski, who are fighting back against their college’s anti-LGBTQIA+ hiring rule. Proud is an understatement. We LOVE seeing young people fight to build inclusive communities.

NoFiltr Youth Innovation Council

Our friends at NoFiltr are looking for 30 amazing, creative, and dedicated young people aged 13-17 to be a part of the 2022-2023 NoFiltr Youth Innovation Council Class. During this 10-month program, youth will have the opportunity to use their social and digital skills to tackle issues related to online safety by creating content, working with other youth from around the country, and networking with leading industry professionals during professional development workshops. The deadline to apply is July 25!
