Here’s how DoSomething members are creating more inclusive communities and building bridges, especially for people who identify as LGBTQIA+!
DoSomething member Aa’Niyah., 16 said, “I help to make my community more inclusive by standing up for people that are being bullied or harassed for simply being who they are, helping others recognize and understand LGBTQIA+ terms/definitions that they don't understand, and helping others to use inclusive language.”
“As a queer person living in Indiana, I think it is important for me to be proud of who I am, and show other people that being gay is normal and 100% okay! I try to help others like me access resources to find support when living in a rather homophobic and transphobic community,” said DoSomething member Ellis L., 20.
“I wrote and helped present an educational slideshow about pronouns, outing, personal bias, and sensitivity,” said DoSomething member LJ V., 18. “My group presented twice, once in our town library, open to the public, and once to the faculty of my high school. The hope is that our community will learn something, and be better able to respect and protect the students in our schools.”
