Hey y’all,
Happy Summer Solstice! ☀️ Today marks the official start of summer, and as we get ready for concerts, hangouts with friends, or whatever fun plans you’re looking forward to, let’s also think about how you stay safe on the road this summer!
As you get on the road with loved ones or by yourself, let’s work together to combat distracted driving. FYI: distracted driving is NOT safe driving! In 2019, distracted driving was reported in crashes associated with 3,142 fatalities. Distractions are all around us from our phones to loud music and even food!
#ZeroCrashFuture, our two step program, is a great way to learn more about keeping yourself and your loved ones safe on the road. Plus, by participating in the program, you’ll be entered for a chance to earn a scholarship!
Here’s how you can start envisioning a zero crash future and building towards a safer future for all! Share with us three words that describe your vision for a #ZeroCrashFuture, and then bring that vision to life by sharing a slipcover for phones to “sleep in” while driving! |
P.S. As we celebrate DoSomething’s 29th birthday, take a minute to tell us what DoSomething means to you! We'll be sharing some of our favorite responses in upcoming newsletters and on our social media channels! |

Here’s what some of our DoSomething members had to say about why road safety and building a #ZeroCrashFuture are so important! |
DoSomething member SJ R., 21 said, “I think it's definitely important to be safe and focus on driving during your trips. I got into a T-bone crash due to distracted driving on my behalf. From that day forward, I have learned to put the phone down. I try to instill that in my brother and his friends who are always in their DMs at a stop light. This campaign is a great way to get the word out to them!” |
“I love my friends and family and want them to be cautious when regarding their own safety,” said DoSomething member Nannette G., 16. |
“This campaign is important because I now have my permit and am learning the rules and safety on the road”, said DoSomething member Keynija V., 17. “I also encourage my friends who have their driver's license to be careful on the road. Know that your life and someone else life are important so put that phone down and be aware! Just like friends don't let friends drive drunk, this should be for texting and driving. So friends don't let friends text and drive. Remember it's not just you on the road!”
Join SJ, Nannette, and Keynija today by learning how to stay safe on the road and sharing tips with your loved ones! |
