Happy Tuesday, y’all
We know the news cycle has been heavy. And before we jump into regularly scheduled communications, we’re pausing to let you know that we see your sadness and hear your frustration. Our hearts are broken after the recent shootings in Uvalde, Buffalo, and Laguna Woods, and we grieve for the victims, families, and anyone impacted by gun violence. In light of everything, remember that you have power. Your voice and actions can serve as a catalyst for change, taking steps to claim our democracy and heal our nation. Please remember to take care of yourself and your loved ones. Visit our diverse mental health resource hub and our gun violence page to learn more and share resources with your loved ones.

Can we say it? We’re going to say it. It is unofficially summer! ☀️ And that means more time on the roads. From carpooling to summer camp to long drives to the beach, summer equals more time in the car!
It also means we need to get real serious about distracted driving. Did you know that 93% of DoSomething members have been a passenger in a car and saw someone using their phone while driving? Not. Cool. We know that texting increases the chance of a crash six times. Yet, 1 in 3 teens say they have done so while driving. This summer, let’s make a pact to keep our eyes on the road and off the phone. We promise that text to your BFF with a hilariously awesome meme can wait. To paraphrase Rihanna, “Hang up and drive.”
Help us envision a Zero Crash Future today. We’re sharing our knowledge on distracted driving and equipping you with the tools and resources to make a difference. You’ll even have the opportunity to earn a scholarship! |

These DoSomething members are up for the challenge! They’re taking steps to lessen distractions, keep loved ones safe on the road, and build a Zero Crash Future. |
DoSomething member Connur M., 18 said, “This campaign is very important to me because my father is a long haul truck driver. He deals with distracted drivers every day and has had very close calls on the road. He stays hands-free because of the unfortunate accidents he has seen due to distracted driving.” |
“There are many accidents in my city that occur at the fault of the driver. Most of the time it is because of alcohol or phone usage, and our community keeps losing people to drunk/distracted drivers. I care about my friends and family and myself, I want our roads to be safe.” said DoSomething member William F., 17. |
“This campaign is extremely important to me because I have witnessed one of my friends lose her other friend due to drunk driving and it's devastating,” said DoSomething member Noa M., 18. “Kids our age want to have fun, but don't think about the consequences after. Spreading awareness is the only way to prevent those types of things.” Join Connur, William, and Noa today and help your friends and family keep their eyes on the road and off the phones! |
