Hey, Jennifer,
Our newsletter might might look a bit different this week, but given the magnitude of this weekend’s tragedy we have to discuss it.
Our thoughts are with the communities of Buffalo and Laguna Woods in the wake of this weekend's mass shootings. We know the news can feel heavy, so we hope you are taking care of your mental health. Check out our diverse mental health resources hub and our gun violence page to learn more and share resources with your loved ones.
How are you planning on staying safe on the road this summer? With summer only 35 days away, most of us will be thinking about hitting the road–whether to go the beach, visit a loved one, or run a quick errand. We want to help you start thinking about what we can all do to stay safe on the road and build a #ZeroCrashFuture!
Did you know that 89 percent of drivers view themselves a safe driver? However, 33 percent of drivers would fail their driver’s test if they took the test today and 50 percent have driven through a stop sign. Distracted driving is not safe driving so, by participating in our #ZeroCrashFuture program, you’ll learn more about how you can reduce distracted driving, keep yourself and your loved ones safe on the road, and envision a safer future for all.
So, as you get ready for those summer travels, stop by our program page by clicking on the button below! Happy and safe travels! Let’s Do This! DoSomething
Check out these DoSomething members who are envisioning a #ZeroCrashFuture. Here’s what they had to say: “This campaign is important to me because I know how many people I see every day who are driving and looking down at their phones or not wearing their seatbelts and that is not safe! It is important for people to know and practice how to be safe when driving because it can keep themselves and other people out of danger,” said DoSomething member Marissa J., 14. DoSomething member Grace A., 18 said, “I sent a text to my mom to tell her I made a coverslip for her phone. This campaign is important to me because my mom has mentored me for years about safe driving. Even before I got my learner’s permit, she and my dad tried to teach by example while in the car with me. Now I want to honor my mom by showing her how much I care about a #ZeroCrashFuture too! I have been sharing this information with many of my friends too.” “Car accidents don't just hurt you, they also have a great potential to hurt others,” said DoSomething member Siqi Y., 24. “I also hope that my friends around me will follow the information in these safety guidelines and go home safely every time.”
Join Marissa, Grace, and Siqi today and sign up for the #ZeroCrashFuture Program! Help keep yourself and your loved ones safe on the road!
