Hey y’all,
We don’t know about you, but we cannot wait for summer (only 42 days left, but who’s counting?)! We’re looking forward to road trips, going to the beach, and hanging out with friends, but we’re also thinking about ways to stay safe on the road.
According to 2019 statistics, approximately 7 teenagers ages 13-19 were killed due to car crashes every day in the US. Let’s work together to envision a #ZeroCrashFuture and create a safer future for all of us!
In partnership with General Motors, we launched our #ZeroCrashFuture Program so that, together, we can combat distracted driving, ensure safer roads, become more aware drivers, and, ultimately, create a Zero Crash Future. Our two-step program will have you building safer roads for all AND earning potential scholarships. Here’s how you can get involved:
Step ☝️: Community Vision Board Take a short survey and share three words that describe your vision for a Zero Crash Future. We’ll add them to the Community Vision Board and you’ll be entered for the opportunity to win a $1,500 scholarship.
Step ✌️: Driving Safety Tips Share a slipcover for phones to “sleep in” and safety tips with loved ones. You’ll be entered for the opportunity to win an additional $1,000 scholarship.
Let’s start envisioning a #ZeroCrashFuture and learn more about road safety for a safe and fun summer in 2022! Let’s Do This! DoSomething
Here’s what our DoSomething members have to say about our #ZeroCrashFuture Program: “This campaign is important to me because, as someone who was hit by a distracted driver, I want to minimize the risk of that happening to anyone else. I'm happy this campaign is teaching the dangers of distracted driving and providing ways to prevent it, so I wholeheartedly support it!” said DoSomething member Alexandra M., 18. DoSomething member Luke G., 17 said, “Some people get distracted easily and cell phones are dangerous to add to the chaos of the roads.” “This campaign is very important to me because I know people who checked their phone for only one second and that one second of not looking at the road resulted in a car crash,” said DoSomething member Morgan K, 17. “People need to be reminded that checking for just "one second" can be so distracting and you can put yourself and other people in danger. People need to get off their phones while driving so they can be safe and other people can be safe.”
Join Alexandra, Luke, and Morgan and take Step 2 of the #ZeroCrashFuture Program. Create a slipcover for your phone to “sleep in” and share safety tips with your loved ones to help keep them safe on the road!
