Hey y’all,
May is finally here, but we know that it can also be a very busy and tough time for some of us. Maybe you’re preparing to go to high school or for finals week or graduation. Or coping with the mental fatigue of a two-year pandemic.
Whatever is going on in your personal life, we wanted to take a moment and check-in with y'all. Conversations about mental health can sometimes be challenging or avoided, so let’s talk about it.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so we wanted to ask you an important question: Are you taking care of your mental health? We know there’s a lot going on in the world- and it’s pretty heavy stuff- so if you or a loved one are struggling with mental health, it’s okay to not be okay. We’re hopping into your inbox to reshare our accessible and diverse resources available for you to learn more about your own mental health and also support your loved ones!
Let’s Do This! DoSomething
Check out what DoSomething members have said about our campaign, It’s (NOT) All In Your Head and mental health! “This campaign is important to me because it allows kids and young adults such as myself to have a chance at making a difference. Spreading awareness about mental health can help lead to decreasing the stigma around it, thus helping more people and allowing people to seek the help they need without feeling alone.” said DoSomething member Shandrey B. DoSomething member Alexa W., said, “This campaign is important to me because there are many people coping with mental illnesses right now, especially at school. This poster could reach somebody and hopefully assist them in finding the resources they need. My career aspirations include substance abuse counseling therefore this is a meaningful effort for me.” “I struggle with my mental stability because I have to juggle school, sports, and volunteer work," said DoSomething member Brandon M. "I know that I am not the only high schooler that participates in multiple activities and while we oftentimes are praised for doing all of them simultaneously we also don’t have a lot of outlets to talk about our mental health. This campaign is important to me because it gave me a platform around my school to share another resource to others struggling with mental health as well.”
Join Shandrey, Alexa, and Brandon to learn how you can make a difference in your and your loved ones’ mental health!
