Hey DoSomething Members,
Not to diss Picasso or DaVinci, but we think your generation may be filled with some of the most creative people we know! Since the pandemic, young people have unleashed their creative sides in ways we’ve never seen before. From producing their own music, opening Etsy shops, and sharing some of the most viral videos yet, your generation has rightfully been dubbed, generation create.
Now here’s the thing: we recognize that finding your creative juices during a global pandemic can be tough. And we know that your communities are suffering as a result of COVID-19. But we also know that if anyone has the power to get their friends and family out of a funk, it’s you!
Art and creative expression are proven to benefit not only individuals, but communities as a whole! By hosting a community fashion show or sharing a really cool mixtape (do people even make mix tapes anymore?!), you're helping to reduce stress and anxiety, improve quality of life, and support local economies. Sounds pretty awesome to us!
It’s also why we’ve teamed up with Vans to encourage YOU to share your creative abilities in public places and bring joy and inspiration to those around you! This all leads up to Vans Checkerboard Day on November 18 -- a time to celebrate and embrace your artistry and imagination. Take action up to and through this special day to help heal your community with your passions! Be as creative as you can--you may even win a scholarship!
