Tuesday not-newsflash, DoSomething Members: times are hard for young folks.
Whether it’s big existential issues like global warming and gun safety, or the impact of the last 18 months cooped up at home due to a global pandemic, young folks are struggling with stress and mental illness.
Worse yet, stress itself can be further isolating—with more than half of Gen Z saying they themselves aren’t doing enough to manage their own stress.
Actual newsflash: you don’t have to manage these challenges alone! Everyone regardless of age, race, gender, disability or sexual orientation deserves effective mental health resources! Earlier this week, DoSomething launched a partnership with The Allstate Foundation to bring free mental health resources to schools around the country.
Another Newsflash! We need your help spreading the word about these free resources in your school. Doing so makes you eligible to win a $2500 scholarship! Join our campaign and hang posters in your school to help your peers access mental health resources. Let’s Do This! DoSomething
Tomorrow is National Walk to School Day (October 6). Getting outside and going for a walk is just one way to blow off some stress. All across the nation young people of all ages will be walking and biking to school tomorrow.
Our hero today is… Frances Haugen who risked her own career in technology to let the world know that Instagram was harming the mental health of teenage girls.
