Happy Tuesday y’all!
April is finally here, which means it is officially Math & Statistics Awareness month! Now we know you may be thinking, "Why do we need a whole month dedicated to math and statistics?" Well, why not! Both math and statistics play a huge role in addressing many real-world problems, including climate change, sustainability, health disparities, and so much more. If crunching numbers and calculating stats is something you are into, this is your month to shine!
And no worries if math isn’t your vibe. It’s also National Robotics Week! Whether you’re interested in math, robotics, or something totally different like graphic design or chemical engineering, our STEM Works For Me quiz can help you find something based on your interests, passions, and personality!
By taking the quiz and sharing your results with a friend, you’ll also be entered to win a $2,500 scholarship! What are you waiting for? Sign up below! Let’s Do This! DoSomething

Read on to see why some of our members signed up to be a part of our STEM Works For Me campaign! “This campaign is important to me because of the rapid expansion of technology within society. I think this change comes with a responsibility to educate myself on technology and STEM-related careers, as well as educate others when possible. I intend on pursuing a STEM-based career and plan on majoring in Data Science in college. This being said, I think it's very important to advocate for more people, especially underrepresented demographics like women and minority groups, to immerse themselves in STEM and move with the progression of society,” said DoSomething member Easha P., 18. DoSomething member Jackson E., 18 said, “This campaign is important to me because I believe it can be really helpful to encourage students to find a specific career path that could suit them.” “This campaign is important to me because as a sophomore in high school, I am thinking about my future, visiting colleges, and considering possible majors. I am interested in STEM because I love to learn about Environmental Science and Biology”, said DoSomething member Kathryn O., 16. “Right now, I'm taking AP Environmental Science and Honors Chemistry, and next year I will take AP Biology. Answering these surveys will help me narrow down what I want to study and a possible profession in the sciences.”
Join Easha, Jackson, and Kathryn to find a STEM career for you!
ICYMI… it’s officially National Volunteer Month! Check out some of the ways that you can volunteer in your community.
Today we are inspired by… Alyssa Carson, the youngest astronaut in training! As an advocate for women in STEM, we obviously had to feature her in a recent DoSomething editorial!
