Howdy, y’all:
Spring has officially sprung, and we are PUMPED! The birds are chirping, the days are getting longer, and we get to partake in our favorite activity…spring cleaning! We know what you’re thinking. “Ugh, spring cleaning? No, thank you!” But with our Strength Through Service program, we’ve got campaigns that make cleaning fun AND worthwhile! Take some time to declutter this week. Nothing feels better than giving back and earning a potential scholarship! A win-win if you ask us!
Cleaning out your closet? Consider donating clothes you no longer wear to those in need through our Comeback Clothes campaign. Not sure what to donate first? We vote for socks! They are the most requested items in shelters.
Looking to declutter your pantry? Our Tackle Hunger campaign challenges you to collect and donate non-perishable foods to local food banks. As a result of COVID-19, millions are facing “food insecurity,” meaning they cannot provide enough food for every person to live an active, healthy life. Your donation helps overcome this!
Seeking to spruce up your community? Spend an afternoon cleaning up cigarette butt litter (aka the most-littered item on the planet!) with our Get The Filter Out Campaign. So, what are you waiting for? Kickstart your spring cleaning today! Not only are you helping the environment and your community (woohoo!), but you’ll also earn volunteer hours AND be considered for a $1,000 scholarship. We’ve officially made spring cleaning cool! |

“This campaign is very important to me because I am a large advocate of circular fashion. Many of my clothes are thrifted from organizations that dedicate their profits to worthy causes. I frequently clear out my closet and donate clothing if it is in proper shape for others to wear. By doing this, I keep my textile waste to a minimum, support good causes, and can find fashionable, pre-owned clothes!” said DoSomething member Helena M., 21.

“As a part of the next generation, I think it's very important to take care of the Earth,” said DoSomething member Lyndsey P., 15. “Cigarettes are not harmful only to the Earth, but to those who smoke as well. I want to play a part in cleaning up the environment, even if it's only picking up butts from my neighborhood.” |
“I believe that if we have extra materials that are going unused, we should donate those to people in need, as opposed to wasting valuable items. I connected with my local food bank and received information on what was needed,” said DoSomething member Ravin C., 17. “In addition to food, the food pantry had put soaps, shampoos, and cleaning supplies on the "current needs” list. I formed a good relationship and now understand how the foodbank works and I signed up to volunteer there now.”
Start your spring cleaning TODAY and join Helena, Lyndsey, and Ravin in making a difference! |
