Join Girls in Tech for a global virtual hackathon to design innovative solutions to combat COVID-19.

Our mission at Girls in Tech is to bring the world together through education and experiences, and never before has that mission been so tested. While the global pandemic caused by COVID-19 and its direct impact on the healthcare industry and vulnerable populations is unprecedented, our community remains steadfast and resolute in helping those in need. Now more than ever, it's our priority to provide innovative solutions to help the doctors, nurses, paramedics, administrators and others on the frontline as well as protect people in need of special care around the world. 

 

PRODUCT CHALLENGE IDEAS:

Participants are encouraged to develop solutions for challenges mentioned in the following tracks. Projects outside of the following tracks are welcome as long as they address a relevant need in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

  1. Accessibility to educational resources about Social Distancing guidelines in COVID-19
  2. COVID-19 patient testing access and prioritization 
  3. Remote patient triage
  4. COVID-19 immunity checks
  5. Nontraditional methods to deliver care in a COVID-19 landscape
  6. Fulfillment and distribution of hospital supplies to front-line workers
  7. Minimizing space and maximizing utility 
  8. Healthcare workforce wellness, management, and safety improvements

 

PRIZES FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS: 

In order to receive these prizes, you must submit your completed project to the Girls in Tech Hackathon DEVPOST by the submission deadline.

# 3 Recruit team members If you’re looking for team members, you can also find teammates in https://girls-in-tech-hackathon.devpost.com/participants or post in #find-teammates Slack channel.
# 4 Create a team channel in Slack Feel free to create your own channel in Slack and invite all of your team members to it.
# 5 Review rules and challenges Review the rules and guidelines on DevPost and challenge project ideas: https://girls-in-tech-hackathon.devpost.com/
# 6 Prototype, build, and test! Work on your challenge project and submit via DevPost. It is highly recommended to reach out to your team members through Slack
# 7 Submit! Submit your completed project by the Sprint deadline.

Eligibility

  • Individual participants over 18 years old can participate.
  • Teams are welcome to sign up as a group of up to 5 members or as individuals.

Requirements

Project Options:

   1. Build a functioning MVP ready for immediate use.
   
   OR

    2. Develop a prototype concept for an application that can later become a functioning product. 

 

All of the following items must be included in submission to the Girls in Tech DevPost page:

1. Submission form 

    • Submit your project to the Girls in Tech Devpost before the deadline and complete the submission form questionnaire. Submission (including video/code links) are editable until the deadline.

      • Difficulties & Challenges you faced
      • Go-to-Market Evaluation (How will this product be made scalable and accessible to the public?)

 

2. Video

    • Upload a short video demo of your product, including an explanation of the function and solution. This video can be submitted as a Youtube link on your Devpost page for your project.
    • Videos should be a maximum of 3 minutes long.

 

3. GitHub or other code repo link

    • Please ensure that this link is publicly shareable so judges can access your project

  

4. Images, Screenshots, & Wireframes

 

By submitting your project to the Girls in Tech Hackathon DEVPOST, you are acknowledging that these materials may be used to promote this hackathon globally.
