Another chance to make an impact

Let's face it, these are heavy times. With the weight of the global pandemic, our homes turning into our workspaces and schools, mass economic uncertainty, and an overall lack of normalcy, it made sense for us to focus our last big event for this 2020 on mental health. With our global engineering community we are seeking to develop innovative solutions and apps to help lead the charge in our Tech Takes On Mental Health Hackathon.

It's never been more necessary to focus on mental wellness and even after COVID is no longer in our daily reality, it's estimated that 300 million people around the world experience clinical depression, and one in five adults suffer from a mental illness. Let's join forces to help people and have your project evaluated by mental health experts while giving away thousands in donation prizes. Bring your ideas, bring your friends, and join other incredible engineers and individuals looking to use their talents to make a difference.

We encourage projects that touch on any one of our five core themes that focus on critical dimensions that support healthy mental wellbeing:

  1. Physical health: nutrition, being physically active and getting enough sleep
  2. Gratefulness: focusing on the positive, practising gratitude and journaling
  3. Mindfulness: meditation, yoga and other relaxation exercises
  4. Accessibility: education and speaking to professionals
  5. Togetherness: Connecting with loved ones
